Programmable Logic Controller - Omron & Siemens (64 Hours)

What's the course about

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is an industrial computer control system that continuously monitors the state of input devices and makes decisions based upon a custom program to control the state of output devices. It is used primarily in automation of industrial electromechanical processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines, amusement rides, or light fixtures. PLCs are designed for multiple arrangements of digital and analog inputs and outputs, extended temperature ranges, immunity to electrical noise, and resistance to vibration and impact. The hardware components of a PLC system are CPU, memory, input/output, power supply unit, and programming device.

Course objectives

The course gives a good understanding of programmable controller hardware, programming concepts, sensors, pneumatics, electric drives, and troubleshooting concepts. Students will be taught how to apply analysis techniques to decompose complex automation systems into subsystems, and design interfacing requirements for these subsystems.
